It is hard to believe that it is already time to start thinking about the next school year! St. John’s Booster Program had a very successful 2013-14 thanks in large part to all of the parent volunteers who support our efforts! Some of the things Boosters was able to provide included Breakfast for ISST Athletes, Senior Shirts, Water for Various Tournaments, New Furniture in the Sports Foyer and New Equipment for various sports teams. St. John’s alumnus (class of 2004) and former Formula 1 driver Jérôme D’Ambrosio participated in a go karting event last night with a group of students from the Ecole polytechnique of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). The students seen with Jérome won the 2013 student competition, which consisted of building a model mechanically propelled car. The first prize in the competition was a karting race with Jérôme. It will come as no surprise that Jérôme won the race. Jérôme currently drives in the Blancpain GT Series in the Bentley Continental Team #8. We received this letter from Father Dhana, who runs the Annai Erica home in India, in gratitude of the ongoing efforts of our senior class to support them. The Annai Erica home is an orphanage offering education for boys and girls in southern India. Some 500 children, aged 6-18, live there full-time and about 250 students go home for weekends. Tomorrow, 79 seniors will enjoy their graduation from St. John’s in a beautiful ceremony, attended by their family and friends. Today, they will have their senior breakfast and graduation rehearsal to prepare for the big day. The guest speaker for this year’s graduation is a St. John’s graduate of the class of 1993, Dr. Samantha Dennis, who is a successful artist, historian and archaeologist. We congratulate the class of 2014 on their hard work and accomplishments and wish them all the best as they continue their studies at a large variety of great universities around the world.
