On Friday, December 9th the IB visual arts winter show will take place in the Greene Gallery and Art Studios from 16:00-18:00. Those interested are invited to enjoy the music, food and refreshments, along with the projects that students in this 12th grade class have been working on over the last couple of months. This is part of the work leading to their final exam in March 2017 and the winter show is like a ‘mock exam’ helping to prepare them for the final external deadline next year.
They have each developed creative and imaginative ideas around a theme that has evolved through a process of critical research and experimentation. These emerging ideas include trees and the forests as the crossroads of art and nature, the power of abstract of colour and form in painting to evoke precise emotions or feelings without words.
Students have created work in fashion and jewelry design using both familiar and unconventional materials, and worked on figurative and abstract oil and acrylic painting on canvas. We have paper and wire sculpture using light and space creatively as well as clothing in plaster soaked bandages. There is architectural model-making and film and photography as well. This would be a great time to meet the IB students in their spaces and discuss their work and ideas.
Come see it on December 9!
