The children in Oak class realised that with this freezing weather, the birds would have difficulty finding food to eat. They decided together that they would make some ice cakes for the birds. The students counted how much seed was needed into a circle container and added water to it. We placed it outside overnight so it would freeze. Our frozen cakes were made and placed in the trees near the classroom window.
What excitement to see the birds coming to feast on their treats! When the temperature drops, the seed will fall on the ground and can still be enjoyed by the birds.
