Virtual reality – A dream come true for 8th graders

Grade 8 Students visited MakersTown exhibition on Tuesday as part of their Design and Technology curriculum. The exhibition showcases most recent innovative projects from various thematic areas like Virtual reality, CS First, 3D printing, Lego Education Mindstorms and other technologies. Needless to say, virtual reality was the top hit among students.

For almost all of them, this was their first chance to experience VR – a technology that has always fascinated them through YouTube videos. Students also had an opportunity to attend either Robotics workshop or Mobile Fab Lab workshop. One workshop focused on Scratch coding, which they are learning this year and the other workshop gave them the opportunity to revisit the design cycle and challenged them to plan and design their own robot made from recycled materials. Students were so engaged and came up with very creative and innovative ideas.
